The only problem I've seemed to have, is getting the end caps off w/o fucking them up. I just bought those picks that electricians use when they are separating wires, mechanics use em as well. Anebody have ane advice?

mm14hd,That shit is really hot man,and just to let you know all the housings are weak right now, only first generation housings,I have been through 3 of them already, they just crack at the knuckles,so use it in the AM housings lightly untill 2nd or 3rd week of Dec. when the 2nd gens or the 3rd gens come, but you did a great job!

sping help i hope

i had same problem, hold the flip open and apply a littile extra force to the flip so it is "all the way fliped open" then pinch the spring on the do nubs the stick up and pull like hell, it will come. Tried for like three weeks and then last night gave the thing hell. I know how gay that sounds. If you break the sping into three peices with i did wich a dummy phone, the spring can be out back together.

can i break it down into three peices to get it out becuz the grips jus will not grip the metal like if i take the circular thing out the makes it click closed around the push to flip button and then it wudd make me able to grip more of the spring wudd it be easier to get it out? or is there a way to break the spring down?

great stuff, i got a question..why do you need to unplug the lcd's? i see no point, just like the i830 i never had to unroll the ribbon nor i had to unplug the lcd's??

In this case, unplugging makes the removal process a lot easier because of having to heat the pad underneath and because of the sheer size of the screen. I guess it could be done without unplugging, but it would be harder.

With the i830, the AM housings often have a slightly smaller ribbon roller so it might be worth it to start redoing them to avoid tearing one!

LiL Man,there is no way to get the outer LCD and ribbon out with out first removing the inner Lcd, and all the rest of the stuff, ie camera and copper seperatoe and plastic magnet for the flip, to tell board it is closed or open.If you heat it up with the stuff in there you will melt everything, and besides that you don't have access to the outer lcd or ribbon with out first taking the copper seperator and the main inner lcd out.Look at the toot closely.Hope this helps. And remember every thing on the outer LCD and ribbon is glued down onto the oem black flip housing. The 830 is a totaly different animal, much much easier to mod.
