Hey guys. Been thinking about getting a new phone, still using that good'ol i870 LOL. I figured this would be a good way to see how many people are actually active on this forum, since its fairly easy to participate in a poll, as well as getting some insight from you guys, who have helped me quite alot along the road of life.

I have a new i576 and I love it. After having an iphone, blackberries, pre's etc. I still like my basic heavy duty nextel. It feels sturdy. I dont have to treat it like its glass. It does what I need and does it well. After all these years I am back to where I started Nextel.

I hear you, but I finally switched to the HTC Hero, and love it. You better believe that there are pissed off people at work because they can't use "da beep beep" anymore. lmfao

But if Nextel doesn't improve something and soon, the whole company will start to switch out their phones. That just means more revenue taken away from that side and more going to Sprint or even their competitors. I know, thirty phones won't kill Nextel, but trust me, there are so many more companies and Borough/Township/State employees that I personally know that are doing the very same thing!

I am just waiting to see where this all goes with Sprint/Nextel. Maybe all we will see is Nextel's original slogan all over the papers..........

Yeah, I'm hearing all these nice things about all these new multimedia phones. The hero, the pro, droids, etc etc. That's the problem with Nextel right now. No phone like that. Sure, it's probably more oriented towards the business people, but I'm sure there are consumers who would like something like that too. T-mobile's got some nice phones, like the Moto Cliq, and AT&T, without a doubt, the iPhone. Problem is, service for both of those sucks in my area. So I turned to Verizon and Sprint, but neither of them use SIM cards, and I personally love SIM cards. Makes it easier to upgrade a phone without needing to go through the company. That's why I'm still sticking with Nextel as of the moment. Good service and SIM card phone together.

I hear you, shadowwolf, on the whole nextel needs to improve thing. I am probably an example of one who wants to switch out, but only didn't because i have a weird liking for both good service and use of SIM cards.

Got it less then a month ago. I got it through work, but no discount. Our company isn't big enough for corporate discounts, yet.... lol

well, i've basically overlooked my whole SIM card love and settled on sprint. coming from nextel, I'm not too sure how to do alot of things.

There's this deal from accenture that can get me like, 25% off monthly plan AND a hero for 30 bucks no rebate. The plan was like, the 1500 unlimited data plan? For two lines, it was 100$. add 20 more per line. I was thinking of setting up my whole family (4ppl) for this plan and get all Heros. Problem is, nextel is under sprint. How can i do this if i'm not a new customer?

I think that they might still give you the deal since you are switching over to Sprint. It all depends on how long you have been a customer. Loyalty gets you a lot of perks with Sprint/Nextel. Just politely asked and give them a line of shit, almost a sob story. Then tell them you don't want to leave, but you are afraid that you just might have to for another carrier. See what they say. My wife just switched her phone over to her personal account, which was inactive for almost 6 months and they re-activated the account, then added all three kids with the data everything plan with 3000 shared minutes. "nights/weekends/and ALL mobile to mobile calls are free, YES ALL mobile to mobile REGARDLESS of carrier" This is saving us almost $275 a MONTH over how we had the plans set up before. We also got all three kids a palm pre for $100 without rebates with this deal.

Couldn't hurt to call and ask......

i'd love to try that, cept i cant call. long story short, im not an Accenture employee LOL. I just heard that when u do it online, they dont really check it. I dont think i wanna risk by calling. sigh..

is it possible to like, terminate my account and start fresh in sprint?

If you are married, get your wife to open a brand new account online with that link in her name. If they don't check it, you are golden. She and everyone else on the plan will get new phones for the discounted price. If I am not mistaken, they also waive the activation fees when done online also. Check into it a little more. Also, if they do check it and you don't get the discounts, you have 30 days to cancel I believe.

sorry to disagre the hero and the moto droid are from the same the moto
has a faster processer more memory and better screen I tested both and the moto was far better in MHO

No disagreement with that, I was just stating that the OS and options available to android users is far superior to other offerings right now. I love the wide selection of FREE apps and there is literally just about anything you could want or think of available. If you can't find it, keep checking the market place online. The best thing with the open OS (at least with Sprint anyhow, confirmed with a service rep) as long as you don't blatantly brick the phone and have the TEPP plan, they don't care what you do with the phone as long as it is legal.... Yes, this includes new ROMS, homebrew programs (even if you write it yourself with the SDK), even if you root it and mess around with the inner workings.

I will keep buying the Android phones as long as they keep updating and keep the new phones rolling out. And from the news I have been reading, this shit is about to get REALLY crazy! lol

Anyone here use or know someone who uses a Sanyo Pro-700? Are they any better than the Motorolas as far as reception? Any pros or cons with these phones?

Two supers for our jobs constantly complain, as well as the office workers, that when on certain jobs, they have no service. But then I roll up on the job with my Hero, and all is good...... They insist on keeping the "Beep Beep" (Yes, their exact phrasing, lol) features and I thought that this phone might be a decent compromise?

Thoughts or suggestions. I know, this is a repeated question, but I just can't convince everyone in the company to switch to strictly Sprint services yet. "With the HUGE discounts, promos, and leniency Sprint/Nextel gives our company, even I don't want to switch yet."

QChat is dead, I tried adding the DC to the phone last night for my mother-n-law and no go, service works great but no QChat (DCS).
Sprint will no longer be running QChat and will not allow anymore to join from here forward
