sorry for making the new thread before. heres what i had

help starting webjal for the i860

Okay i installed everything the patch, webjal03, usb drivers, etc

I had a i730 before and am currently using the same usb wire.

When i start the webjal the program starts up however when i go to connect my phone after i hit login i get this

"the application was unable to read the required phone information. Check your cable connection and your preferences. Click retry to restart or cancel to stop"

now ive asked a few members of the forum and all of them have been helpful but they seem lost too and told me this was my best bet.

any help would be greatly appreciated

Have u tried updating webjal?
http://idenphones.motorola.com/iden/...update_app.jsp

if this doesn't work
try using the GPS Update patch/fix for RSS
but move the configuration files to yer webjal directory.

Same problem occured in RSS if the new GPS update was done.

alright damnit, i'll stoop down to noob levels and ask for help

first off, on my main computer everything works perfect

i set up webjal on an older machine i have and all the ringtones are getting cut off. everything loads fine and shows up but doesnt play the whole thing. this is on a i285 so i cant test backgrounds but i did replace the startup and powerdown images and they down show properly either. im pretty sure everything was set up the exact same way as on my main pc, whats wrong with it?!

It didn't work when I tried it, BUT I figured out how to get the Vinny Cuz method to work, and about damn time ha ha. The main problem was the unzipping of the patcher, for some reason the WinZip wasn't setting up the process right. Pretty much with that method, it's all gravity.

This Is the BEST method to use. I got this from a girl that works at a nextel service center. First you need to uninstall webjal. If you are using VinnyCuz webjal uninstall apache and php along with it. Restart your computer. Go to howardforums.com and scroll down to the NEXTEL link under the "NORTH AMERICAN CARRIER DISCUSSIONS". Click on "SOFTWARE" it's the 3rd thread from the top. Find the thread "WebJal and Jal Software" (It was on the second page when I just checked) and click on it. Go to the second page and it is the 1st thread. It has the download for WebJal 03 and the Patch to go along with it. IT WILL NOT WORK IF YOU STILL HAVE APACHE AND PHP STILL INSTALLED ON YOUR COMPUTER, BE SURE TO COMPLETELY REMOVE THEM. Once installed , leave the login box and password box empty and start enjoying your downloads. HAVE FUN.

To elimate any errors the patcher causes do the following.
This helps with ringtones from being cut short too

6. On the last line add

216.19.0.250 idenupdate.motorola.com

7. Select File
8. Select Save
9. Select File
10. Select Exit
11. Open Internet Explorer
12. go to this site

https://idenupdate.motorola.com

13. If you did the above steps correctly, you will see

1999valid11

14. Double click the lock in the bottom right corner of the Internet Explorer window
15. Select "Install Ceritificate"
16. Select Next, Next, Finish, Ok
17. Select Start
18. Select Run
19. Type in "regedit"
19.5. Select Ok
20. Expand HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE

22. Expand Motorola
23. Select WebJAL
24. Double click "SITE_URL"
25. Put the following URL in the EDITABLE text box

https://idenupdate.motorola.com/webjal010102/index.cgi

Because its using WebJAL from a different server the server that cut the ringtone off is overloaded right now so it doesnt load the full ringtone to your phone

so the vinnycuz method shouldnt cut them off at all, since you're using your own pc as the server correct?

I've had some really bad luck with WebJal and my phones recently. I used to have Webjal02 and it worked fine with my i730. Now I have the i860 and I've tried everything but I've had no luck. I installed the USB drivers, software, and did it the vinnycuz way but my phone does not connect to WebJal03. Everytime I try to connect I get random error messages or my system just hangs. I thought I just had to wait but I've sat there for like 5 minutes for something to come up but nothing.
I'd appreciate all the help I can get but also I'd like to make a suggestion because I see that there is a lot of confusion, but maybe there should be a new thread for support for each type of phone. Like I said just a suggestion, don't want to get flamed or anything

Can someone please help me out here. I have the updated version of webjal and was downloading stuff to my phone. I signed out of webjal and now I cannot log back on. When I try to log on using webjal as the username I received an "invalid password message". I read somewhere on another forum (UFN) that if you download more than 75 times it will not let you connect. Is that true?

Thanks.

That happened to me too using VinnyCuz's Webjal. I went to a nextel service center and this girl gave me the link to get webjal up and running with no password. I 'm good now and just downloaded like 80 ringtones to my phone just the other day. So look at the top of this page and follow my instructions and you should be up and runnin in no time.
